On the opening day of the ICC World Test Championship Final, Travis Head of Australia received praise from his teammate Steven Smith for his outstanding performance, scoring an unbeaten century. The Australian opener, David Warner, and top-ranked batsman, Marnus Labuschagne, built a solid partnership, adding 69 runs for the second wicket. However, Warner was dismissed for 43 runs off 60 balls by Mohammed Shami. Labuschagne’s innings was cut short early in the second session by Shami as well, as he departed after scoring 26 runs. Despite these setbacks, Smith and Head combined forces and led Australia towards a potentially massive first-innings total. Their impressive partnership of 251 runs off 370 deliveries guided Australia to a score of 327/3 in 85 overs at the end of Day 1 at The Oval for the WTC final.
